E-type - Touch Typing & Keyboard Skills Course

E-type is a great new way to learn how to touch-type. With the extra speed that touch typing brings, you can save time and enjoy faster results.

Touch typing is a skill that will last a lifetime, enabling you to use your computer keyboard more quickly and accurately. It’s a great skill for anyone who uses a computer. You’ll be amazed at the difference it makes.

E-type is taught through ten structured lessons that follow a simple and logical sequence. There are clear instructions and the lessons are easy to understand and can be done at your own pace. As you progress you’ll get handy hints to help you improve. You can also take a break whenever you want and return to the point where you left off.

Entry Requirements:

Learners should have some basic IT skills and be familiar with using Microsoft Internet Explorer.

The course start date is flexible - please contact us for more information.

Duration:

There is no set duration - you complete the course at your own pace. It is possible to learn the basics of touch typing in 10 hours. It could then take another 10 to 20 hours to increase your typing speed.

Time Limit:

Learners should aim to complete the course within 6 months.

Course Days / Times:

Learners may attend sessions, subject to availability, during the following days / times -

Tuesday

10:30 - 20:30

It may be possible to attend the course at other times, subject to availability. We recommend that learners attend training sessions lasting about 2 hours, but sessions can be shorter or longer if preferred.

Thursday

10:30 - 17:00

Saturday

10:30 - 13:30

Class Size:

Our class sizes are small and effective - there are no more than 4 learners to 1 tutor.

Certification:

Learners have the option of obtaining a recognised qualification from the British Computer Society. There are three grades that can be achieved:

	Bronze - 20 words per minute at 98% accuracy
	Silver - 40 words per minute at 98% accuracy
	Gold - 60 words per minute at 98% accuracy

Learners who wish to sit the optional exam are allowed to sit up to 3 tests to achieve the highest grade.

Location / Delivery:

The course is delivered online. Learners can complete the course at our Learning Centre or by using their own computer. All exams must be completed at our Learning Centre.
